Continuing the agenda of the National Conference (Munas) III of the Association of Indonesian History Study Programs (PPSI) which was held on Saturday (11/17/2018), on Sunday (11/18/2018) a National Seminar (Semnas) was held with the theme “Caring for Collective Memory , Strengthening National Integration”. The activity which aims to improve academic communication among historians was opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambariyanto, M. Sc., as Vice Chancellor (Warek) IV.
After 73 years of Indonesia’s independence, the issue of national integration is still a prominent issue and continues to be studied in many seminar forums. National integration, which can simply be defined as an effort and process of uniting differences, so that national harmony and harmony can be achieved can be continuously pursued through awareness of the nation’s history.
Dr. Dhanang Respati Puguh, M. Hum. as the Head of the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Diponegoro University (UNDIP) as well as the Chair of PPSI gave a speech to start the seminar which is a tradition at every PPSI National Conference. He said that several national issues related to disintegration were also discussed at the forum which was expected to foster ideas, ideas, and experiences, so that in the end they could be a solution to the problem of national disintegration. “Hopefully it can contribute to the development of historical science and the resolution of the problems of the disintegration of the Indonesian nation.” he said.
The keynote speaker at the seminar which was held at the Multipurpose Building (GSG) FCS UNDIP was Prof. Dr. Sa’id Hamid Hasan, M.A. (University of Education Indonesia, Bandung), Prof. Dr. Susanto Zuhdi, M. Hum. (University of Indonesia, Jakarta), Dr. Jajat Burhanuddin, M.A. (UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta), and Prof. Dr. Singgih Tri Sulistiyono, M. Hum. (UNDIP, Semarang). No less than 70 articles were presented by speakers from various universities in Indonesia at the event which was organized thanks to the collaboration between the Department of History FIB UNDIP, PPSI, and the Indonesian Historian Society (MSI).
